Grace: I’m so happy to hear you have made your mind up on a house! You’ve certainly chosen well, that’s an amazing location!
Henry: Yes it’s been a hard decision; there were so many to choose from but I think I’ve chosen the right place for me. Could you remind me of the price please?
Gracie: Certainly, this house is listed at 450,000 euros; the owners originally set the price at 600, but had no luck with it.
Henry: 450,000? That’s a little over budget, is there any way you could lower the price?
Gracie: I’m afraid it’s not up to me to set the pricings, and the owners have already dropped the price considerably.
Henry: I understand they’ve reduced the price, but can you not speak to them and ask if they will be happy to reconsider the number? I told you at the start I had a maximum budget of 380,000 euros – and even then that’s pushing it!
Gracie: Okay I understand, but this is a once in a lifetime offer; this is the perfect location for a family house, and with a bit of renovation you will be able to make a big profit if you’re ever looking to sell.
Henry: That does sound reasonable, but I can’t go over budget. I may have to look elsewhere.
Gracie: Don’t walk away too soon; I’ll talk to the owners and see if they’re willing to drop the price a bit more…

Gracie: I’ve just had a chat with them, and they agreed they would be willing to drop the price to 400,000- but no less. This is something I never expected, but I get the impression the owners are keen to sell the house quickly.
Henry: 400,000 is still over budget, but I love the house and if you’re right about being able to make a profit on it then I would be silly to pass on the offer.
Gracie: So does that mean you would like to sign for the house?
Henry: Yes, I think I’ll go for it!
Gracie: Great! Well let me go and get the paperwork, and then we can celebrate!
